The right outfit creates optical effects that allow you to gain a few centimeters: here are the clever rules that even celebs know by heart!
Heels, sure. Indispensable. But there are other ways to look taller. There are more than you can imagine. Strategic clothing and accessories trick the eye of others by gaining a few centimeters. If the height is your concern, therefore, know that you can go beyond shoes to achieve noteworthy results. Many celebs and influencers know this well: you won’t think that they are all bigwigs! Because the reality is decidedly different. Any examples? Lady Gaga is 155cm tall, Kim Kardashian 159cm, and Natalie Portman 160cm. And we could continue. Ban complexes have no reason to exist. But some fashion tricks can prove to be very useful. Ready to take note?
HIGH WAIST
It sounds like a pun, but it’s an enlightening reality: to look taller, choose a… high waist! This applies to skirts and trousers, but also dresses; an optical illusion is obtained thanks to which the whole figure appears more slender and proportionate.
SHORT SKIRTS
Miniskirts are faithful allies of girls dissatisfied with their height because they lengthen the leg. Short but not very short, otherwise there is the risk that the design of the bust will not be harmonious (that is, too short, let’s face it).
V-NECK
This is a lesser-known but quite effective trick, for two reasons. First: the V-neck, with its two lines joining together, slims the silhouette and makes the neck more tapered, also giving the illusion of lengthening the bust. Second: it leads attention upwards, “distracting” from the question of stature. And if you are imagining an evening outfit, perhaps a dress, keep in mind that the rule can also be fully applied during the day. Let’s think, for example, of a cardigan or a blouse.
THE BELT
Why do we also include belts in the list? Because they highlight the waist and at the same time give more definition to the line of the legs. Be careful, though: they must be quite thin. Wide belts have the opposite effect, meaning you end up looking shorter. You have to give up, unfortunately. Even to the bustier models.
THE MONOCHROME
An outfit characterized by more than 2-3 colors does not slim the figure. The immediate deduction is that the monochrome, on the other hand, is of great help. This does not mean that you have to wear the same shade from head to toe: a solid color suit, for example, can be completed with a top under a jacket and/or outerwear in different shades. The one solid color jumpsuit, needless to say, deserves a nice 10 and praise!
THE HIGH NECK
The sweaters and turtlenecks, while completely different from those with a V-neck, have the same effect: they draw attention toward the upper body and give momentum to both the neck and the bust. To avoid, however, the very voluminous models. They are counterproductive.
THE CROP TOP
It has kept its place firmly among the fashion trends even when the temperatures have dropped, peeking out from blazers and even coats: yes, we are referring to the crop top. Which is also fully included in the ranking of fashion tricks to… elevate yourself. Pair it with a pair of high-waisted trousers and you’ll be bingo!
THE VERTICAL LINES
Ancient and always valid rule: vertical lines – in tone-on-tone contrast – lengthen, both for their trend and for that effect of continuity they allow to obtain. They slim down, too, which never hurts. To make the most of this “superpower”, opt for fabrics with thin rather than wide stripes.
FLARED TROUSERS
Flared pants also make you look taller, have you thought about that? For two reasons: first of all, the final flaring perfects the proportions with respect to the hips, therefore it helps to make the figure more harmonious; secondly, they are long models, which cover part of the shoes, consequently making the legs longer in turn!
NUDE LOOK SHOES
In the end, the shoes: the nude versions, whether it’s décolleté or other models, create a sort of extension of the leg. And they are really a great trick, seeing is believing. Fundamental, however, is that they are in tune with the complexion as much as possible.
But that’s not all! We continue with a selection of outfits to inspire you to appear taller!
