All the most beautiful beauty looks of the Met Gala 2023, the evening in homage to Karl Lagerfeld.
As per tradition, the spotlights are turned on every first Monday in May for the highly anticipated Met Gala.
Last night, on the occasion of the most important event of the year, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York was transformed to welcome the crème de la crème of stars and celebrities ready to make their mark with makeup and looks in homage to Karl Lagerfeld. In fact, this year’s Met Gala retrospective was Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, whose theme chosen by the hostess Anna Wintour was a tribute to the Kaiser of fashion and his immemorial stylistic legacy.
SYDNEY SWEENEY
Sydney Sweeney blows everyone away with a bright soft pink makeup. The eye makeup, curated by Melissa Hernandez, was created by mixing two Armani Beauty Eye Tints (specifically the shades 10s and 44s for a custom-made nuance) while the hairstyle, created by Glen Oropeza, develops vertically with waves bombshells fastened with a contrasting black chiffon bow on a light backcomb.
EMMA CHAMBERLAIN
A makeup combined with the tones of the outfit, that of Emma Chamberlain. The eyes of the Global Ambassador of Lancôme are tinged with periwinkle and blue (underlined by a line of black pencil along the upper and lower lashline) while her lips are made up with a nude lipstick. Finally, a headband in the same light blue shade as her dress embellishes her hairstyle characterized by smooth hair with a central line.
DUA LIPA
The second godmother of the event, Dua Lipa walked the red carpet with simple but effective makeup: the raven hair left loose in gentle waves with a central parting frame the face illuminated by an eye-liner in white-silver tones with a light point in the inner corner of the eye and bare lips.
EMILY RATAJKOWSKI
Emily Ratajkowski, also for the Meg Gala 2023, remains faithful to her signature look composed of a light and shaded smokey eye and nude lips. The super chic detail? Her hair gathered in a voluminous ponytail with short bangs and a velvet bow in her hair as a perfect ode to Karl’s Chanel.
FLORENCE PUGH
Curated as usual by Alex Babsky with Valentino Beauty products, Florence Pugh’s makeup focuses entirely on a super dark and nuanced smokey eye. Specifically, the products used for the eye look are the “Black & Black” Twin Liner and the Flip Eyeshadow Palette, while for the rosy and soft lips the makeup artist opted for the new Liquidrosso Lip Color 115R. Finally, the actress said goodbye to her honey-colored hair by appearing on the red carpet with a zero cut curated by Peter Lux adorned with a vertical couture headpiece.
ALEXANDRA DADDARIO
Blush draping in shades of bright pink, crystals on the eyelids and nude lips for Alexandra Daddario. The makeup, created by Lottie with Dior Beauty products, takes inspiration from the dress worn by the actress and was created by layering two different blushes (Rouge Blush 962 and Rosy Glow 001), while the hair, cared for by Marty Harper, is left loose in soft and glam waves.
RIHANNA
Under the cape and the glasses with applied false eyelashes Rihanna, who closed the red carpet in the company of A$AP Rocky showing off her adorable baby bump in a look that reinterprets the camellias so loved by Coco Chanel, reveals a bright make-up with bold lips detail. Created by Priscilla Ono with-obviously-Fenty Beauty products, her makeup features fiery red lips made with Lip Paint in the Unchensored shade , a candid and ethereal eye makeup that illuminates the right points of her face. To top it all off, her hair is tied up with a semi-updo wet side twist.
GIGI HADID
An intense gaze for Gigi Hadid, who presents herself at the Met Gala with a very black and winged eye-liner adorned with white details and under-eye pearl detail. Her hair, platinum blonde, is semi gathered on the front of her leaving the lengths free.
KRISTEN STEWART
A tomboyish look that of Kirsten Stewart , who opts for a very light and imperceptible makeup (no eye shadow, no mascara, no lipstick, nothing) characterized only by very straight eyebrows and unkempt hair.
JESSICA CHASTAIN
Radical and unexpected change of haircolor for Jessica Chastain who abandons red to focus on what would appear to be a platinum blonde wig worn for the occasion. The makeup, signed Charlotte Tilbury, is declined in a smokey eye in shades of pearl gray and silver made with the Luxury Palette-The Rock Chick, combined with a delicate pink on her lips.
AMANDA SEYFRIED
Curated by Lancôme, Amanda Seyfried’s eye makeup focuses on the rosy bronze and gold tones that characterize the dress. Her lips, designed with an intense dark red are combined with a hairstyle reminiscent of 70s glam with voluminous and sculpted waves.
ELLE FANNING
A modern Mother Nature romantic and bonne mine : Elle Fanning enchants the Met Gala with a look characterized by rosy blush, freckles and black eye-liner combined with a crown of small daisies that adorns her loose and wavy blonde hair. The detail of 10 cum laude, however, is the nail art: the actress’s nails are in fact covered in white lace – just like her dress – hers and are inspired by Karl Lagerfeld’s Infamous Gloves.
PARIS HILTON
High pony tail inspired by Karl Lagerfeld and intense smokey ultra black for the blonde heiress. All completed by glossy and mirrored lips.
LIZZO
Signed Charlotte Tilbury, Lizzo’s makeup focuses on a black eye-liner that lifts and lengthens the gaze and a berry blush. Her hair, gathered in a curly chignon features a curls + straight bangs combo reminiscent of the 2000s.
DOJA CAT
Doja Cat brought the cat.
If Choupette, Karl Lagerfeld’s much-loved cat, couldn’t be at the Met Gala, Doja Cat paid homage. Dressed head-to-toe as a crystal-encrusted cream Tortie Burmese in an Oscar de la Renta gown, Doja Cat has also transformed her face – thanks to the make-up of Malina Stearns and Ernesto Casillas – into that of a cat. To complete the work, there is a feline eyeliner (was it to be expected?) super black, volumizing mascara and very thin eyebrows just mentioned.
