WhatsApp Voice Status Arrived on the App

WhatsApp announced the arrival of "voice statuses" on its app, with which it allows users to record and share voice messages of up to 30 seconds as status updates, lasting 24 hours.

Subscribers can record voice notes by tapping the microphone icon on the status screen.

According to Meta, which manages WhatsApp, the novelty is designed to provide greater customization to a function, status updates, which on the messaging app has never held the same importance as on other social apps of the group, such as Facebook and Instagram. The Voice Status comes months after WhatsApp noticed significant traction in voice messaging on its platform. A year ago, the company said users were sending an average of 7 billion voice messages a day. In addition to voice status, other WhatsApp status message updates include a "private audience picker" to choose who can see your status updates. A new audience selector button appears on the status screen, in a similar way to what happens for Facebook posts. "Status Reactions" is a quick way to respond to status updates using one of eight available emojis.

Similar to reactions, WhatsApp has expanded the availability of status profile "rings" to all users, after only making them available to a limited extent in the recent past. These rings appear around your profile picture when you share a status update. The colored circle around the image remains visible in chat lists, group participant lists, and contact information.
